Problem
Poste Italiane, within the Elis Open Italy program, has identified the opportunity to improve the work of postmen in terms of safety and ecological footprint thanks to the technology of the 221e start up in collaboration with D/Vision Lab.
Solution
221e has installed the MUSE multi-sensor platform: wearable sensors positioned on the uniform of postmen and on 2, 3 and 4-wheeled vehicles. Through sensor fusion algorithms developed internally, the following were provided: data relating to requests for help which will be activated automatically; the detection data on vibrations generated by the road surface and the aggregate indices relating to driving dynamics, thus encouraging safe and eco-sustainable driving.
The Connected Fleet project saw a 12-week experimentation period in 2020 at the end of which the developed model made it possible to identify the logic, processes and algorithms to support any technological evolutions, leading Poste Italiane towards achieving its objective of an increasingly safe and sustainable fleet.
