An immersive experience inside Città Alta

Problem

Many historical and cultural sites remain partially inaccessible — difficult to preserve, to narrate, and often hard to fully experience, especially when certain areas are restricted or no longer visible.
Teatro Tascabile di Bergamo asked us to rethink the visitor experience of the Monastery of Carmine, located in Bergamo’s historic upper city, with the goal of making it more accessible, immersive, and engaging, even in its most hidden or transformed spaces.

Solution

We designed a custom web application combining augmented reality, navigable 360° scenes, and before/after visualizations, allowing users to interactively explore the site’s layers and stories.
Visitors can now discover areas that are not physically accessible, understand architectural changes over time, and experience the space through a digital lens that complements (rather than replaces) the physical one.
